The avian and exotic service at the Animal Emergency and Specialty Center provides primary care, referral, and emergency services to a variety of pet exotic species including birds (parrots, chickens, turkeys, ducks, other fowl, pigeons), exotic mammals (guinea pigs, rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, sugar gliders, chinchillas, ferrets, rats, mice, hedgehogs, small exotic felines and canines), reptiles (excluding venomous animals), amphibians, fish, and invertebrates. Please contact the service for questions regarding additional species. Owned and permitted wildlife will be seen, however, we cannot accept injured or orphaned wildlife. Visit www.tn.gov/twra/wildliferehab.html for information regarding wildlife rehabilitators in your area. We offer a wide variety of veterinary care for exotic pets. Services including, but not limited to: Yearly wellness care including physical examination, routine blood work, and vaccinations as recommended Small mammal dental care Species specific grooming including nail, beak, and wing trims Adoption, behavior, diet, and husbandry consultation Emergency evaluation and care Hospitalization in an exotics-only ward Soft tissue and orthopedic surgery Endoscopic procedures Advanced imaging (digital radiographs, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, CT) Species-specific laboratory testing Health certificates Humane euthanasia
