Very informative and gentle vet!

I just saw Dr Powers at the Huntersville office. We were "that family" that got a sugar glider from Pocket Pets without doing research first. We got our beautiful baby a little over 2 weeks ago and we understand how many mistakes we made! We are very fortunate that our girl is healthy, but she is extremely fearful. We are adopting another glider from a wonderful breeder in South Carolina because we now understand that the PP myth that "single gliders are just fine" is not true. We wanted to get out baby in quickly to have her checked out prior to getting out second glider so our breeder recommended Dr Powers. They were able to work us in for a same day appointment. Dr Powers was very understanding and non-jugemental about our mistake, and she was very knowledgeable about the kinds of problems seen with "mill" babies. Our girl was extremely upset and fighting/crabbing/trying to bite, but Dr Powers and her assistant Christina were both very confident and they quickly got our girl to calm in a blanket and Dr Powers was able to do the exam quickly and efficiently with minimal stress to the glider. They even clipped our baby's nails! Dr Powers and Christina spent a very long time with me answering questions and giving advice about all of the conflicting things we have read about diet, bonding, and many other topics. They were patient and very kind to the baby glider and to me. I can't say enough great things about our experience with Dr Powers and her staff. We will make the drive from Charlotte if ever needed but we can plan well visits when Dr Powers and Christina are at the Charlotte or Matthews offices so it is closer.
